The biological meaning of the term adult refers to a human or animal that is a person who has grown. If used in conjunction with human beings, the term "adult" can have meanings that are related to legal or social concepts. Contrary to those who are who is not considered to be an adult or "minor", the legal adult has attained majority, making them self-sufficient, capable, and responsible. The word "major" may be applied to the person. The age of 18 is as the age of legal maturity, but the definition of adulthood can vary according to the nation, lawful rights or mental development.

The stage of development for humans in which full physical and mental maturity has been reached. Most people think that adulthood is attained when you are 20 or older. Then, after middle age (starting around age 40) is the time to reach the age of old age (around age 60). The three major stages of adulthood are the early years (from mid-30s to late-60s), middle adulthood from mid-30s to late-60s and later adulthood (mid-60s through the time of death). As we enter early adulthood the body is at the fullest physical maturation. But, the height and our weight can increase. During young adulthood we reach the peak of our physical abilities.
